Cape Henry Trail
A rail trail, the north end of Cape Henry follows what was once a railroad corridor constructed to connect Cape Henry to Norfolk. It stretches about 7.5 miles. Six miles meander through First Landing State Park, where the ecosystem changes from maritime forests to salt marshes.
Bald Cypress Trail
Also found at First Landing State Park, the Bald Cypress Trail offers a 1.6-mile journey that includes bridges and boardwalks. Along the way, you'll see bald cypress trees and can take in the sights from a scenic overlook. A few benches are found throughout for when you need a break. They're perfect for relaxing and taking in the sounds of nature.
Lake Trashmore Loop Trail
Called one of the best easy hikes in Virginia Beach, the Lake Trashmore Loop Trail offers pretty water views. It's also a great place to watch the sunset. The path spans nearly two miles. It's paved for easy walkability, and you might see an array of wildlife along the way.
Marsh Ridge Trail
Found at False Cape State Park, the Marsh Ridge Trail is one of the most scenic paths around Virginia Beach. It offers an easy adventure and fabulous views of the park's coastline, sand dunes, and marshy areas. The path is also home to local and migratory birds. It's typically closed from November to April to protect the habitat.
