Staycation: Spring Break Activities for Virginia Beach Locals

Living in a resort town means that there is tons of fun to be had throughout the city! Virginia Beach’s tourist destinations aren’t just for visitors–many locals enjoy fun activities (indoors and outdoors) year-round. Check out some of the fun Spring Break activities around The Apartments at Spence Crossing, and plan your holiday fun.

Hunt Club Farm Easter Egg Hunt & Spring Fling

Hunt Club Farm is located just 15 minutes from The Apartments at Spence Crossing, and on April 18 and 19 they’re hosting a children’s Easter egg hunt, plus visits with the Easter Bunny, a live DJ with music, hayrides, and costumed characters. The petting zoo and treehouse adventure will also be open, so bring the whole family and prepare to make some memories!

Strawberry Picking

Many local farms offer pick-your-own fruit, and Virginia Beach’s strawberry season is just around the corner. Depending on the weather, mid-April should provide plenty of opportunities to pick strawberries at places like Cullipher Farm, Brookdale Farm, Flip Flop Farmer, and Flanagan Farms.

Fishing

Springtime in Virginia Beach brings a host of new fish to catch! In April, you can go on a headboard in the Atlantic or the Chesapeake Bay and find a variety of fis, including Black Sea Bass, Bluefish, Blueline Tilefish, Croaker, Speckled Trout, and more. April is the peak season for Flounder and Atlantic Mackerel.

Camping

If you’re outdoorsy, it’s a great time of year to go camping. It’s not too hot, and the mosquitos aren’t out in full force. At First Landing State Park, you can pitch a tent or rent a cabin to suit your camp style. Enjoy hiking and biking trails, walks on the beach, and exploration of the unique environment of the swamp and marshlands.

Red Wing Park

Featuring the Miyazaki Japanese Garden and home of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival (March 29 - April 5), Red Wing Park boasts multiple volleyball, basketball, and pickle ball courts, gardens, and picnic shelters. Stop by the Cherry Blossom Festival to check out martial arts demonstrations, hula demonstrations, a tour of the Miyazaki Japanes Garden, and a kid’s paint night! The park will close after April 5 to continue renovations.

There is so much to see and do in Virginia Beach. When you live at the Apartments at Spence Crossing, you’re close to all the fun! Contact our office today to book a tour of your new home.
